A rare vintage 1960's/70's Danish midcentury modern 24 carat gold-plated Abo Randers bubble lamp

This rare original 1960's/70's limited edition 24 carat gold-plated bubble lamp by the Abo Randers lighting company of Denmark retains all its original labels. The special edition label on the base gives the lamp's title, Guld-magnetlampe (Gold magnet lamp) and explains that it is made of steel with real 24 carat gold-plating. Gold is a precious metal, it continues, that should be cleaned at intervals. Cleaning the lamp is easy, the label adds, and most ordinary cleaning products can be used.

The lamp's ball-shaped head is held in place on its base by a magnet, and can be swivelled around to point in any direction. The light can be used either as a table lamp or as a spotlight, and can be attached to a wall or shelf simply by putting a screw through the hole in the centre of the magnetic base. The magnet is more than strong enough to hold the bubble even upside down. The lamp stands around 15cm tall and has a European-style two-pin plug. It is in very good vintage condition with a few small marks indicating careful previous use.
